I [heart] Marion: Order a pizza, get $10,000

From Marion Chronicle-Tribune:

It’s not every day that a Domino’s Pizza customer opens up their pizza box and finds a $10,000 check in the box with their food. That’s exactly what happened to Kasey Quick on Friday.

The Marion resident was one of 20 people throughout the United States who won the money. Brian Coles from Coles Marketing, the group that manages marketing for Domino’s Pizza, said Quick was the only resident in Indiana to win the prize.

According to a news release, Domino’s Pizza customers had the chance to win $10,000 from July 7 to July 27 when they ordered a Gotham City Pizza. The large, hand-tossed pizza came with one and half times the amount of pepperoni than a standard order for $9.99, and it was delivered in a specially designed Gotham City pizza box, part of a promotion for the blockbuster film The Dark Knight.

Coles said the drawing to win the money was random. Quick opened her pizza after it was delivered Friday and found play money inside the box, Coles said. Later that day, the real check arrived.

“I was shocked,” Quick said in a news release. “I couldn’t believe that I had won $10,000, let alone the fact that Domino’s had delivered the check to my door the same time my pizza was delivered. Now I will be able to afford the trip to my family reunion. I will probably also pay my entire family’s way, as well.”
